For the Mother's in my Life

From Mother to Child

I gave you life, but I cannot live it for you.

I can teach you things, but I cannot make you learn.

I can give you direction, but I cannot be there to lead you.

I can allow you freedom, but I cannot account for it.

I can take you to Church, but I cannot make you believe.

I can teach you right from wrong, but I cannot always decide for you.

I can buy you beautiful clothes, but I cannot make you beautiful inside.

I can offer you advice, but I cannot take it for you.

I can give you love, but I cannot force it upon you.

I can teach you, of course, to share, but I cannot make you unselfish.

I can teach you respect, but I cannot force you to show honor.

I can advise you about friends, but I cannot choose them for you.

I can tell you about the facts of life, but I cannot build your reputation.

I can warn you about the evil influence of drugs, but I cannot say "No" for you.

I can tell you about lofty goals, but I cannot achieve them for you.

I can teach you about kindness, but I cannot force you to be gracious.

I can warn you about sin, but I cannot make your morals.

I can love you as a child of God, but I cannot make your place in God's family.

I can pray for you, but I cannot make you walk with God.

I can teach you about Jesus, but I cannot make Jesus your Lord.

I can tell you how to live, but I cannot give you eternal life.

I'm sure that every good mother has these feelings at some time in their lives and I'm so grateful that my mother chose to teach me these things and let me learn them for myself. She has always been a role model to me and has been able to teach me all of things things through her words as well as your actions. Thank you mom for all you have done and continue to do for me.
I'm also grateful that Gabe's mother taught him the same values. I'm glad that I've had the opportunity to continue to learn from her as well.
These women have made a lot of sacrifices as mothers and I have just gotten a glimpse of what they have gone through in my nine months of being a mother. I now understand the unconditional love mother's have for their children and I hope I will be able to be as influential to them as these women have been to us. I'm glad that they are also able to be there for my children as they grow. Thanks again for all you do! I hope everyone will take this day to celebrate the wonderful women who have made a difference in someone's life. Hope you have a great Mother's Day!
