When we woke up in the mornings on our vacation we were supposed to be eating the oatmeal and eggs I had packed for breakfast. Apparently Gabe had a different idea than me. He got the boys a real treat by picking up some Trix cereal at the store when he went out for milk. Personally I don't know how anybody could eat the stuff, but I'm glad they enjoyed it. I guess it's okay to eat a real treat or two when you're on vacation. ;)
The boys also got to watch a show in the morning while I kept resting. We were told that the resort had tv's that could hook up to a DVD player, so we made sure to bring one.
Lucky for me the boys did eat the oatmeal too...
After breakfast we headed out to the mostly deserted beach. We had no idea it would be filled with toys floaties and chairs, and we could have our pick of whatever we wanted!

It was funny that these chairs had signs saying "first come first serve" because we were the only ones using them.

There were a few other kids there the first morning.
After we were done playing at the beach we headed over to one of the two empty hot tubs or "bubble baths" as Carter called them so we could clean the sand off. He didn't like how hot it was though, so he kept me company as we just put our feet in.
After we had been out the first morning Carter started crying uncontrollably so we thought he just really needed a nap. I took him back to the room while Gabe and Preston went swimming at the pool. As soon as I was able to put an unwilling Carter into his pajamas I realized that the poor guy had a fever. Luckily after a long nap and some tylenol he was feeling much better.
After the pool Gabe and Preston came back and we all enjoyed a game of rummikub while Carter finished his nap. Preston is obsessed with playing games and doing puzzles lately.
Then it was back out to the lake for some more fun.
Notice all those empty chairs? There were just a few guys fishing.
The boys liked making rivers and stacking buckets. Every time they attempted a sand castle Carter stepped on it, so those never lasted long.

They also really liked getting buried by daddy.
Yes, I was laying on a chair most of the time... ;) That's what vacation is for, right? I did, at least, get up to take pictures.

See, proof I got up. You can see my pink belly obstructing the view.
Preston absolutely loved swimming in the hot tub. It really wasn't a very hot hot tub though, or he wouldn't have liked it. ;)

This is the table we ate our yummy cream cheese, spinach, turkey, avocado, and tomato wraps on homemade wheat tortillas for lunch on our last day (they were yummy!). Then we said goodbye to our little vacation.
When we got home it was overcast and kind of chilly out but after the long car ride the boys wanted to ride their bikes/scooters and I was okay with them getting their energy out. Preston's getting pretty good at riding his bike now. Too bad I'm not so good at focusing on my new camera. Oh well, at least you get the idea. ;)

That looks exactly like my kind of vacation! How fun! Don't you just love that your boys are still young enough to go places during the off season without missing school? How wonderful that you pretty much had the place to yourself.
