Despite the fact that Preston and Carter got up at 4:30 this morning and didn't really going back to sleep, and the fact that I have a cold and a burning sore throat, the fact that my dirty laundry is piling up yet again, and the fact that Carter still is fighting getting his #2 in the toilet, today was a good day.
The boys and I spent the morning playing hide-and-seek, looking at pinterest, and reading books, I was able to talk to my mom on the phone while they watched their new favorite Disney show "Octonauts," I cleaned up parts of the house I have been ignoring for days, while Owen peacefully slept.
We ate yogurt with granola for breakfast and frosted mini wheats and leftover popcorn for lunch. We had snuggle time, tickle time, and finally nap time. Each of the boys slept for at least 3 hours so I was able to get a little nap and some peace and quiet. I was able to spend some time reading a book just for myself. Daddy came home and took us to Subway for dinner (you can't beat their $5 subs) and then we went to the church to watch him play volleyball with friends. While we were there I played train (with conductors and all) and musical chairs with the boys and chased various kids to and from the bathrooms and water fountains. It was tiring, but still good.
I'm so grateful that even though I'm not always being productive, and sometimes I'm really tired, I'm still able to enjoy each moment I have with these sweet boys and feel so lucky to have the family I have.
Here's hoping that every day will be at least a little bit like today.
Oh, and if you're wondering about the story of this little guys birth, I'll get to posting it eventually... For now I'm just taking one day at a time. ;)

I love it. Beautiful snapshot of how simple and exhausting and meaningful our every days can be.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got a little nap in! Those make my days better with one baby, so I'm sure it definitely helps when you've got 3! And don't apologize about laundry in the picture! It's part of motherhood! And I love that you had popcorn for lunch :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect picture of life. I am go glad you have a family blog. If you would like I can send you an invite to ours. And you are always welcome to come play at our home during volleyball if you need a change.
ReplyDeleteI too am a fan of the one-day-at-a-time philosophy. Hence I didn't blog about the birth of my 2nd child until almost six months later! :)
