*WARNING* This post contains a lot of pictures. We actually had a Halloween season this year instead of just one Halloween day. It all started with our church trunk-or-treat the Friday before Halloween. Preston dressed up in his cute doggie costume my mom sent him. He absolutely LOVES dogs so it was perfect!
Is it creepy that he has two heads?
Here he is at the trunk-or-treat. The leash was definately helpful in keeping him where we wanted him to be, and everyone thought it was cute. Thanks Britni for letting us borrow it!
Here's Preston with his friend Dalia, doesn't she look pretty? Her mom is the one that let us borrow the leash.
When we were all in the gym before the activity started Gabe kept Preston on his leash and he just kept going in a circle as far away from Gabe as he could get. It kind of reminded me of my mom's poodle when he's on a leash, I guess he played the part well!
The day after the trunk-or-treat Gabe and I went with our friends Matt and Holly. Gabe dressed up like a chinese man. I even sprayed his hair black... against his will of course.
I dressed up as Glinda from Wicked. If you can't tell, the shirt I'm wearing says "Popular" on it, which is one of the songs Glinda sings. I got it when we went to see the musical.
Check out all the scary decorations.
Aren't we so cute together? I think Gabe is trying to squint for the picture.
Here are Holly and I. She dressed up as Elfaba or the wicked witch. Don't we just look like best friends?
Holly and her hubby Matt. No she didn't beat him up, he was dressed as a UFC fighter.
A random party scene. Can you see the shrek people? I thought they did a good job.
Can you tell what this lady is dressed as?
Now for the band. They dressed as Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Holly's dad is the king in the middle. She used to be in the band so she went up and sang a few songs. It was really good! Too bad her costume didn't fit in with the theme. ;) Please ignore me dancing in the bottom corner.
I got attacked by a spider at some point. ;) We were actually going to take one home to Preston and forgot, but Matt and Holly remembered and brought it to us the next day. Thanks again, he loved it!
You might have to enlarge this picture, but if you do you can see the guy dressed as a You Tube video, he wore regular clothes and put part of a cardboard box around him, it was pretty clever.
The day before Halloween I had signed up to have playgroup at my house. We decided to make it into a mini halloween party. Here is Preston playing with a couple of the kids.
Of course lots of pictures were taken of the kids in their cute costumes.
There were some sweet moments with the moms and kids. I love this picture!
Dalia was shying away from the camera and decided to hug her mommy instead.
After a little bit of playingall the kids sat down to have a story read to them.
Preston was entranced and sitting still for a few minutes anyway.
Thanks again Heidi for reading it to us,
You did a great job! After the story we had a cake walk as well but I didn't get any pictures of that since I was in charge of the "MonsterMash" music. I think the kids had fun even though they didn't understand what they were doing. They at least liked that they got treats at the end. :)
Do you like my scary decorations? My friend actually put the skeleton up there for me, I thought it was pretty clever.
Finally, Halloween day. My friend Heidi (pictured above) let us borrow a different dog costume that was a little bit bigger so it would keep Preston warmer when we were outside.
He absolutely loved being dressed as a dog.
When we let him look in the mirror he just kept laughing, pointing, and saying "doggie... woof woof"
He wanted to keep playing instead of having his picture taken with me.
He liked when daddy was holding him though.
Here's the pumpkin Gabe carved before we went out trick-or-treating. I think he did a pretty good job considering how fast he did it, and the fact that he was doing it alone because Preston was sleeping and I was on the couch resting and surfing the internet the entire time. Anyway, i like how Preston's face is covered by the dog face in this picture, he looks almost like a real dog. ;)
We're on our way to the mall to trick-or-treat. Preston was still sleepy. Doesn't it look like the dog is licking his face? We couldn't figure out any other way to fit him in his carseat with that thing on.
We tried going trick-or-treating at the mall because it was supposed to be raining even though it didn't.
Of course the mall was packed! Can you see all those people in the background? There was a line going from store to store, it was pretty crazy! We met up with our friends Mark and Amy and their cute kids Tessa, Sawyer, and Rigdon. We were lucky to find them amongst all those people.
When we got home we passed out candy to the neighbor kids, and Preston dumped all of his candy out and inspected it. The binky is in his mouth for a reason.
Somehow he still got a tootsie pop in his mouth with the wrapper still on, so Gabe being the nice daddy he is decided to let Preston sit in his booster seat and eat it. He was sooo excited... and sooo sticky!
The rest of the night (until he went to bed) consisted of him putting candy back in his bucket, then dumping it out and putting it back in. He had so much fun he didn't want to go to bed. It's funny because he wasn't even eating the candy, just playing with it. Maybe he was just suffering from a sugar rush from earlier.
While he was trick-or-treating everytime we would give him the bucket to hold he would sit down right there and start trying to get the candy out. The only way we could get him to keep going was to bribe him with one mike and ike at a time. He was cute taking one piece of candy at a time from the people giving it out and then promptly putting it in his bucket (right before he wanted to take it out again). He would also keep trying to go back to the places we had just been instead of going forward because he knew those people had candy. You can see how this could be a problem when there's a long line of people behind you. :) Over all we had a fun Halloween, but I think we're definately ready for some other holidays. I'm excited to see what Preston will be like next year!

ReplyDeleteyou all looked great! Glad Preston had so much fun exploring Candy. Christopher's favorite sign which he does whenever in the kitchen is 'Candy'. Luckily we snagged enough smarties and sweettarts to dole out when he wants candy.
